Cellular Interfaces Programme, Leverhulme Trust

Leverhulme International Professor, Centre for Mechanochemical Cell Biology

After an M.Sc. in Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, India, a Ph.D. in Life Sciences from The Rockefeller University, USA and a post-doctoral fellowship at Columbia University, USA, I started my laboratory at National Centre for Biological Sciences, a centre of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, in Bangalore in 1995. I am currently the Leverhulme International Professor at the Centre for Mechanochemical Cell Biology, Warwick Medical School.

Postdoctoral fellow

My research explores how microorganisms adapt to environmental stress through changes in membrane lipid composition and gene expression.

Chandrima Patra

Postdoctoral researcher

Matthew Gleeson

Research engineer

Day to day maintenance and development of the lab’s microscopes. Background in multiphoton microscopy for biomedical optics and material characterization.

Rashmi Godbole

Graduate student

I am interested in understanding the molecular mechanism of a clathrin and dynamin independent, CLIC/GEEC (CG) endocytic pathway. I am investigating the role of cytoskeleton and its associated proteins that could be involved in generating these endosomes.

Anly Tolan

Junior research fellow

Studying the mechanisms of membrane trafficking

Sowmya Jahnavi

Postdoctoral researcher

Sedigheh (Mobi) Ghanbarzadeh

Postdoctoral researcher

Mobi works on theoretical and computational biophysics, focusing on membrane asymmetry and active processes in biological membranes.

Sarayu Beri

Graduate student

I study how the cell uses the plasma membrane a signalling module, particularly in the context of adhesion and mechanosensing.

Bhagyashri Mahajan

Graduate student

Lucie Winn

Graduate Student

My PhD project focusses on cell-cell adhesions mediated by the E-cadherin protein.

Hafez Razmazma

Postdoctoral researcher

I specialize in computational physical chemistry, with a focus on membrane protein modeling.

Sankarshan Talluri

Postdoctoral researcher

Shubhangi Sharma

Pooja Krishna

Junior research fellow

My research focuses on understanding how insulin receptor signaling dynamics are coordinated with plasma membrane lipidome remodeling during adipocyte differentiation.
