I am interested in understanding the molecular mechanism of a clathrin and dynamin independent, CLIC/GEEC (CG) endocytic pathway. I am investigating the role of cytoskeleton and its associated proteins that could be involved in generating these endosomes. I am also looking at the type of molecules that get endocytosed through this pathway and the mechanisms by which they are specifically captured into CG vesicles. Through various collaborations I have been developing genetic probes and small molecular inhibitors to specifically perturb CG as such tools will help to uncover the mechanism and function of this endocytic process.
